This Is The Thing About Jazz Clubs

"Nonbelievers watch to see whether the followers of Christ will ever make a difference outside the walls of their churches."
~ Joel C. Hunter

"The world is desperately in need of people who will break themselves open and pour themselves out for the reconciliation of all things -- that's what the world needs."
~ Rob Bell

Good blog Manny! I must say...whoever that friend is....she needs to go to that Jazz club and play her heart out!
But I also must say that there must be two sides to this statement. Who knows maybe this friend didn't just mean going to the jazz club was a "nonchristian thing" to do. Maybe she also felt like playing at a jazz club was not a place where she should use her talent...maybe she feels she can reach non-christians playing her own music...

It doesn't matter... she should just play at that jazz club and stop thinking so much. She needs to stop thinking and get her hands dirty with the Gospel. That girl is trying to plant seeds and stay clean at the same time... that's not how it works. In order to sow a seed (the Word) you need to get dirty. Jesus got his hands dirty and so do we.

Dude this is amazing, I have been trying to convince some of my Christian friends some of the same points/ideas that you are expressing in your video blog. I always used to feel like I was that radical person who wanted to "bend" the rules a little bit & hang around non-believers to try to share the word with them & go places like the jazz clubs because they simple had great music there, but according to my friends if it's not a "gospel club" then I shouldn't have been hanging there, singing there etc. I would always ask them this question, "Is jazz not something that was created by God & if "I", one of his children decided to play something that doesn't sound like "traditional" Christian music is that not of God because it sounds like, has a similar melody to "secular" music"? I always felt like I was too much of a rational thinker, & often felt uncomfortable around the people I perceived as "too churchy" (lol @ the used of vocabulary).

I soon came to realize that we as seekers of the kingdom have to think outside the box & not be closed minded & frown our faces when it comes to things or people that we don't initially understand or judge people that are not like we are.

Thanks for sharing, I needed this sooo much. :)
